Please Join Us Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 3:00 pm as the DeKalb Festival Chorus performs Requiem in D Minor, Opus 48, by Gabriel Fauré. Our gifted director, Jennifer Whiting will conduct this beautiful Requiem Mass. Dr. William Crosbie will accompany the 43-voice chorus on the Berghaus pipe organ. Soloists are Dr. Orna Arania, soprano, and Julian Rojas, baritone. Jennifer Whiting will give a free, pre-concert lecture, "Text Painting in Fauré's Requiem," at 2:30 p.m. for those interested in knowing more about this work. The chorus will perform additional pieces by Mendelssohn, Haydn, and Rutter. Dr. Crosbie will present Sowerby's Prelude on Song 46, and Dr. Arania will sing Mozart's Laudamus te (allegro aperto), from the Great Mass in C Minor. The concert will take place at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John, 26555 Brickville Road, in Sycamore, Illinois.
